In Shakespeare plays he uses many powerful techniques when he writes, mostly including things like co-incidence, dramatic irony, pathetic fallacy and most importantly fate. Fate is when your future is already decided and you cant change it because god is controlling you life which is already planned out, this is why Shakespeare used the quote “some consequence yet hanging in the stars” because Romeo was referring to god as if he was controlling his life and he says he’s in the stars because that is where god was seen to have been in the stars where heaven was. Another example of fate is when Romeo is out on the street and a peasant comes to ask him if he can read the names that were on the invitation for the capulet party, Romeo sees his name on the invitation and Rosaline which was his first love. Romeo knew that he was going to a party were there would be members of the capulet family which were his rivals. Romeo told benvolio and mercutio and then he had a vision that this was the day that lead him to his death but he still went because it was thought that if that was fate it couldn’t be changed because it was already set. the third example of fate I’m referring to is “he that has steerage of my course direct my sail” im referring to this one because Romeo is saying that he is the boat and god is the sail and he wants god to direct him in the right direction
